Learning French in winter in the Alps
Bonjour les amis!
Have you ever dreamt of skiing in the Alps, while learning French and discovering French culture with your teacher?
That’s what Genki, a Japanese student who is learning French, had the chance to experience with our immersion homestay with his teacher.
First of all, it is important to know that Genki had a real tour of France, thanks to our immersion homestays.
Indeed, he has experienced French immersion in New Aquitaine, Provence, today in the Alps and tomorrow in Nantes!
Each time, his teachers have established a tailor-made programme according to his level and expectations. Thus, he was able to discover French culture, practice guided conversation and improve his oral fluency.
Carol prepared a well-paced programme and personalized lessons for her student! In the morning, he studied the French language one-on-one with his teacher. The meals and activities were an excellent opportunity to discover the culture and practice conversation in French.
Here is how our student’s stay with Carol in the Alps went.
On the first day, they visited the famous Christmas market and tasted the tartiflette, a typical French dish and more precisely a Savoyard dish, cooked with lardons, potatoes, onions and especially a lot of reblochon! Something to warm up in December.
The second day skiing on Mount Geneva with a 360° view!
On the third day, there was a bird of prey show on the slopes, followed by a chocolate making workshop based on Chef Pierre Hermé’s recipe!
In the evening, Carol had a little surprise in store for Genki to make her feel even more comfortable with a New Year’s Eve dinner with friends.
Day 4: For Genki the stay continues with a visit to the fruitiere, a fruitiere is an artisanal and cooperative cheese factory. Then fishing at the fish farm, an opportunity for him to learn about fishing.
In the evening, visit Morzine by night and its Christmas lights.
