Hello! My name is Arja. Originally from Finland, I have been living in Béarn for 26 years and truly feel at home here. I first came to Pau to learn French… and I never left!
Passionate about languages, I now speak French fluently and have a deep love for it. My journey allows me to support those who wish to improve their French with kindness and understanding. I’ve been in your shoes, and I know how much every word matters.
Curious about cultures from around the world, I enjoy welcoming visitors into my home. I also have a true passion for local history and would be delighted to help you discover the treasures of Béarn, the Basque Country, and the Pyrenees.
Stay in an authentic countryside home nestled in the heart of Béarn’s natural surroundings. The property welcomes up to five participants, making it an ideal place for a warm and friendly immersion experience.
The main house features three bright private bedrooms with a shared bathroom, while a separate apartment offers two additional bedrooms. Meals are shared together in the shaded patio under a majestic wisteria or in the cozy living room with a fireplace.
The garden, a true haven of peace, invites you to relax. For complete well-being, an authentic Finnish sauna is also available.

Start the day with breakfast at the farm, then meet your teacher for French lessons in the morning.
At lunchtime, enjoy a meal at the farm, with guided conversations in French to build your speaking confidence.
In the afternoon, join your teacher Marianne and your host Arja for a guided tour of Pau, and discover how the city was shaped by British influence, as well as its historical ties with Sweden.
In the evening, dinner at the farm featuring the traditional poule au pot of King Henry IV.
Begin the day with breakfast at the farm, followed by a French lesson adapted to your level to enrich your vocabulary and everyday expressions.
At lunchtime, enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Arja, along with guided conversations in French to gain confidence.
In the afternoon, explore Lucq-de-Béarn and visit Domaine Larroudé, a family-run vineyard producing Jurançon wines for five generations. Enjoy a guided tour followed by a wine tasting with local delicacies.
Dinner will be served buffet-style at the farm.

In the afternoon, a local chef will lead a cooking workshop: you’ll learn how to prepare an authentic chicken basquaise, a culinary emblem of the Basque Country. And of course, we’ll enjoy this delicious meal together!

Late in the morning, departure for Aramits (about 30 minutes by car), where we’ll enjoy a picnic surrounded by breathtaking views of the Pyrenees.

After breakfast at the farm, you’ll be taken to Oloron-Sainte-Marie to visit its weekly market, a lively place to discover local flavors and producers.
After the market, we’ll have lunch in a traditional Béarnais restaurant.
French lessons will take place at the farm in the afternoon.
In the evening, enjoy a friendly pizza night: the oven will be fired up for a lively tasting led by Mario, our local pizzaiolo.

Each morning, enjoy 3 hours of dynamic French lessons tailored to your level. Through a variety of themes: daily life in the South-West of France, local culture, and conversation, you will build fluency and confidence in speaking, all within a small group setting while discovering French culture.
