YOUR HOME STAY FRENCH IMMERSION IN BURGUNDY

Visit the small medieval town of Semur with its famous gothic cathedral and study French at your teacher’s home in the ancient monastery of the city, a historical monument built in 1610.

Your teacher lives there and welcomes you for an authentic immersion stay. You’ll be located within walking distance of the old town, with many shops and restaurants, one museum, one theater and cinema! Everything is there for a perfect stay.

You will have your private comfortable room with a single or double bed. The bathroom has a shower and also a bathtub.

I invite you to relax in the garden where I grow organic vegetables and fruits. I propose only homemade cooking with the fruits and vegetables from my garden. For me, the way I cook with high quality products is part of the French culture and my way of life. Gastronomy is always the occasion for sharing, so I will be glad to tell you about my typical recipes during your authentic homestay.

 

Bonjour, my name is Maryse. I am a French native teacher and I’ve been teaching for many years. I did teach in France, as well as in schools in Finland and Japan. After a few years, I decided to switch to French total immersion homestays in order to offer a quality service for all students who want to learn French and share in all the richness of our culture. I welcome you for a real immersion homestay, and I will teach you French!

LEARN FRENCH LANGUAGE

Learn French with my courses adapted to your level and needs. My goal: enable all of my students to speak a good natural French with correct grammar and pronunciation. I want the quality to be ahead of the quantity, so I decided to welcome only 1 student per course and offer one to one sessions. You will have intensive French courses, from Monday to Friday, and also conversations when we share the guided visits of Burgundy or moments during afternoons or evenings.

Thanks to that, practicing French remains the essential part of your true immersion stay. We share the breakfasts of the week and the lunches, but you can use the kitchen for your dinners and during the weekends.

Also you will learn how to talk in French to Vulcan, my lovely and welcoming dog.

ACTIVITIES

I am glad to share with you my love for the authentic Burgundy, during the guided visits of the different historical monuments. These are moments to practice French, and you will rapidly see progress, since practice is best! All this, of course, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Discover Semur, built on pink granite, and the historical capital of Auxois in Burgundy. We will visit exceptional sites such as l’Abbaye de Fontenay, and le Chateau de Bussy-Rabutin. These occasions will provide the opportunity to speak French on different topics and gain some new vocabulary.

Also, depending on the season, you can enjoy horseback-riding, fishing or rent a bike. All these activities are available in the city of Semur.
