🎁 French Holiday Season Vocabulary
For this festive time of year, I’m delighted to share a small selection of French holiday season vocabulary. Here are a few useful words to help you sound like a real French speaker:
– Une coupe de champagne: A champagne glass
– Une bouteille et un seau de champagne: A bottle of champagne and an ice bucket
– Une fête: A party
– Un feu d’artifice: A fireworks
– Un repas de famille: A family meal
I had no trouble choosing my favorite word: champagne! 🥂
🗣️ Pronunciation tip: be careful — you don’t say “cham-pag-nay” ❌!
The “gn” is pronounced like in “montagne” ✅ → it’s the sound /ɲ/, a palatal consonant.
👉 Pronunciation: [ʃɑ̃paɲ] 🍾
And you? What’s your favorite Christmas vocabulary word?
