Anne is a dynamic and active retired French teacher who is both attentive and passionate about teaching. A lover of French culture and deeply involved in the life of her village, she will introduce you to an authentic French immersion experience. Together with her husband Mark, who is originally from England and perfectly bilingual in French, she welcomes you to one of the apartments on their beautiful property, set within a charming garden. As well as being an enriching learning experience, your stay promises to be a relaxing escape in an exceptional setting.

Your home stay French immersion in Sisteron

Your stay in Provence will immerse you in the French language through a true linguistic immersion experience. What better way to discover the culture and learn the language than by living like a local? You will quickly be won over by the warmth and friendliness of the Provençal people: here, everyone greets one another in the street, and every encounter is an opportunity to connect.

The house is located just 200 metres from the heart of this quintessential Provençal village, with its charming square and café terraces shaded by centuries-old plane trees. Recently built in traditional Provençal style, it comprises three apartments. On the ground floor, the two 3-star apartments welcome both language learners and holidaymakers throughout the year. My husband, Mark, and I live on the first floor.

Each apartment has been tastefully furnished and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay, including quality bedding, a spacious living room with Wi-Fi, a private bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. Each one also features its own private terrace, the perfect place to study outdoors or simply relax under the star-filled Provençal sky.

Learning French

With patience and encouragement, I guide each learner towards their personal goals in French. My lessons are built around topics and learning materials carefully selected to match each student’s needs and interests. We usually begin by exploring an authentic document, often a video, before focusing on key vocabulary and grammar. The learner then has plenty of opportunities to speak, interact, and put their new language skills into practice.

My lessons strike a balance between developing communication skills and strengthening language knowledge. I also place particular emphasis on pronunciation, helping my students speak with confidence and fluency so they can understand others and make themselves understood, whether at work or in everyday life.

Activities

The Provençal Alps are located between Marseille and Grenoble and are easily accessible by train, plane, or via the nearby motorway. This authentic, unspoilt rural region is ideal for enjoying the outdoors, whether you enjoy swimming, hiking, cycling, or skiing in winter.

Depending on your daily schedule, lessons take place either in the morning or in the afternoon, in 90-minute sessions. I recommend at least two lessons per day, giving you enough time to absorb and reuse what you have learned throughout the day.

In addition to your French lessons, I can take you on a visit to Sisteron, a medieval town with charming shopping streets and a magnificent citadel. If you wish, we can also spend a day together in the beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence, the birthplace of the painter Paul Cézanne.

Throughout the year, we enjoy attending performances in small venues, at the theatre, or outdoors. These friendly occasions provide excellent opportunities to meet local people and practise your French. We can also organise excursions to discover the spectacular gorges, lakes, and mountains of the surrounding area, according to your interests. Above all, I love strolling through local markets and cooking with the delicious produce of Provence.
